Alan says: This track was recorded on 8 track reel to reel in the kitchen of Henry Sparks in Longport and was a direct reaction to a Dreadzone track played to me by Lee Partis..I thought to produce something similar but more folky and using a combination of acoustic guitar, fiddle, DR 660 drum machine and guitar synth, playing whistles, trumpets and bass, this is what emerged. I didn't go so far as to add any dialogue or rapping because you run out of tracks, on an 8 track machine, pretty darned fast. That was a good week for me. I had the whole house to myself for a week while Henry was on holiday and I recorded about a dozen demos including one for Hanna Gilbert, called "Creepy Critters" and another called "Café Days" that I was particularly fond of as I included some real events that I'd witnessed during my days as a Pizza Chef.
The Only Thing That's New was recorded on the 26th October 1998. It's 1min 20secs. Clicking on the plectrum on the left returns a stereo MP3 file at 1.77Mb.
